Open since October 2005 and with a magnificent view of the village, this new municipal area is unique in Comunitat Valenciana thanks to its public character. It offers space for the parking of 30 caravans approximately.
The caravan zone in Morella is also equipped to offer visitors basic sanitary infrastructures to facilitate the emptying of sewage, as well as taps with running water. Due to its free and public nature, the zone does not have power points.
Morella’s town council, being aware of the growing demand of this kind of area and of the proliferation of caravanning, established this privileged zone next to N-232 road and at 1.5 kilometres from Morella to receive these vehicles.
A caravan needs to throw sewage away and to fill water tanks every three days more or less. Special places for this purpose have been created taking into account the preservation of nature. The importance of the initiative carried on by Morella’s town council lies in this point because it demonstrates once more its pioneering character when creating new ways of tourist exploitation.
As an example, we have to take into account that there are more than 3,500 areas for caravanning in France, whereas in Spain there are only about 350.
Morella’s geographic situation, in the axis that joins Vinaròs with Vitoria (N-232) and its proximity to the Mediterranean coast, where thousands of caravans drive by each year, are elements that justify the development of new public places related to this kind of travelling.
The caravan zone in Morella has a list of rules of compulsory performance related with the cleanliness and occupation of the area. If not accomplished, administrative sanctions can be imposed.
