Temps de Dinosaures Museum
Temps de Dinosaures Museum
Discover the fascinating universe of dinosaurs and their history in this museum, located next to the Sant Miquel church. Morella and Els Ports is a land of strata that formed between the Upper Jurassic and the Lower Cretaceous, between 146 and 98 million years ago. The water covered these valleys that have left abundant and valuable remains of marine fauna and calcareous algae. In the Cretaceous, in the term of Morella, the evolution originates the formation of clays, a characteristic that has allowed the presence of numerous dinosaur remains. For decades paleontologists have been exploring and discovering these treasures, dinosaur bones, highlighting the most found and studied species, the Iguanodon. In this museum we can enjoy a full-scale reproduction of this imposing animal that inhabited these lands. Along with the Iguanodon, Morella has much more paleontological wealth, from carnivorous theropods to enormous herbivores, ornithopods and battleships. The Temps de Dinosaures Museum is a journey to the center of the earth, where young and old travel the exciting world of geology and paleontology through the Cretaceous fossil collection.
