Route IV – Pereroles municipal natural area
A forest route through an ancient and extensive black pine woodland.
The vast and mature pine forest of the Pereroles Municipal Natural Area is home to woodland birds adapted to moving among the trees. It is advisable to remain silent, as many of the birds in this area are easier to detect by their calls and songs rather than by their discreet plumage. This is the territory of woodpeckers, treecreepers, nuthatches, tits, coal tits, jays, crossbills, goldcrests, chiffchaffs, northern goshawks, and Eurasian sparrowhawks. Some of the eagles that soar over the skies of the Els Ports region also breed here, including booted eagles, short-toed snake eagles, and golden eagles.
